The Prison Handbook

A guide to how prison works on Broken Compass

Welcome to Boilingbrooke. If you’ve caused enough trouble to end up here, this guide will help you find your way around, get food and medical care, receive visitors, and eventually get yourself back out.

Remember: soap on a rope is your friend!

Wanna go to prison?

If you cause enough trouble, one of Los Santos’ O.K.est will eventually arrest you. You may end up with a stint in Boilingbrooke.

If you do, this guide is meant to help make that stint bearable.

Prison
We hope you don't end up here.

Cafeteria

You’ll find the cafeteria through the door pictured below. 8A is included in the image for reference.

In the cafeteria, you’ll find someone who can give you a meal. Use your Third Eye by holding Left Alt to interact with them.

Jail roster

Also in the cafeteria is a copy of the newspaper. However, someone scribbled the names of your fellow inmates in the margins.

At the time of documenting this, we had a society without any prisoners…

The Prison Roster gives you some useful information.

Getting medical care

If you find you need medical treatment, there is a doctor available in the cell block through the door to the right of the cafeteria.

Use your Third Eye by holding Left Alt to interact with the doctor.

Having a visitor

The prison allows visitors, whether it’s your attorney, a friend, or a family member.

Walk through the cafeteria and exit onto the perimeter road. Turn left and walk through the gate.

Don’t worry—you won’t set off the alarms when you do.

Once through the gate, turn right and enter through the door.

Inside, you’ll find a short hallway. The door on the right leads into the visitor area.

Getting released

When your time is served, interact with the phone bank pictured below.

The phone bank is in the same area as the visitor area.

Once you interact with the phone bank, you’ll be released from prison and returned to Del Perro Pier.

Use the phones to be released.
You use the phones to be released when your sentence is finished.

Back at it again

Now that you’ve been released, you may find your car in the public parking lot or impound.

From the Pier Police Station, you can walk to both.

Check your vehicle status

If you want to check whether your vehicle has been impounded, use the garage app on your phone.

  1. Press M to bring up your phone.
  2. Open the Garage app from the bottom row.
  3. Find your vehicle and check its status.

If the vehicle is in a garage, you’ll need to go get it.

If it has been impounded, continue toward the impound location.

Public impound

Walk east on the pier toward the pier access road. There are steps to the left as you walk toward the road.

Look for the big blue and yellow building at the edge of the parking lot. Your vehicle should be there. If there is a longer hold placed on the vehicle than your prison time you may have to wait. Good thing there is a ride share app on the phone!
